Core Values

Government isn't just about policy. Values precede policy.

Transparency

There should be no secrets between a county and its residents.

Government should work for residents. That means no supervisor should sign NDAs with developers or hold secret meetings where decisions are made. We should have public records that are easily available, and a published log of who our officials meet with and why. A key principle is that if a decision can't survive being seen, it shouldn't be made.

Stewardship

Our Land. Our Future.

The land and water of Frederick County were here before us and will outlast us. We must treat them as a trust held for the next generation because they are not an asset to be liquidated for a quarterly forecast. Protecting our county's watershed, and the rural character of our Valley is basic governance.

Self-Governance

The people who live here decide what happens here.

The future of this county should be decided by the residents who'll live with the consequences. Self-governance means neighbors shaping their own community and a Board that prioritizes their needs. The County should not serve whoever has the deepest pockets in the room.

Fiscal Honesty

Tell people the truth about the money.

A $41.3 million structural shortfall doesn't fix itself by handing the tax base to data centers and hoping things will work out. Honest budgeting means weighing the real costs while building a durable local economy. Instead of chasing one-time deals that leave residents with the bill, we should be building wealth locally.

  2. Transparent GovernanceEnsuring decisions are made for the community, not behind closed doors.
  3. Managed GrowthGrowth should never outpace our schools, roads, emergency services, and our ability to pay for it.
  4. Protection of Our Land & Natural ResourcesDefending our farms, our water, green spaces, and the rural character that makes Frederick County what it is.
  5. Local Economic DevelopmentPrioritizing local families, small farms, independent producers, and small businesses, not outside developers and heavy industry.
  6. Public Safety & Community ResilienceProtecting the health and safety of every resident, before an emergency and during one.
